The notebook

Kōhai writes down everything he meets on the way up to the moon: who helps him in the village, which ghosts guard each chamber and how the bosses fall. Red seals mark what each enemy is weak to; moons, how hard a mistake is punished; and whatever they drop goes back to the village. The notebook grows with the game.
